My kaleidoscope is among my most prized possessions and one of my very favorite things.I pick it up often and peak inside to see the dazzling colors and shapes it holds within.
As I turn it toward the light, the beauty within is revealed. As I move it ever so slightly, it shifts and the pieces move delicately while creating a new pattern. If I turn it completely I am enthralled as I watch the intricacies of shape, form, and color slip completely into chaos while settling into the newness of creation and beauty.
I am mesmerized as I hold this object in my hands and feel the power it holds inside. I can move it, not look inside and yet, I know it is shifting – that is it purpose, its nature, its calling.
I can lay it down or put it away and even though it is dormant, its capacity for change and magnificence remains constant.
All I have to do to experience its wonder and awe is to ~
·Remember it is there
·Pick it up
·Hold it to the light
·Create a few twists and turns
·And…’Wal-la’… the exquisiteness of life is reborn in all its radiant wonder.
What a metaphor for life the kaleidoscope is! We are magnificent beings with great capacities for growth and change – for creation and wonder.
If your life is not to your liking, you can shift a little and watch the pieces as they begin to fall into place. You can do it slowly over time, or quickly with deliberate intention.
If the color of your life is not as brilliant as you would like, you can hold yourself in the light while the warmth melts your heart. The light exposes the darkness, overcomes the shadows and life is once again renewed.
If you have tucked yourself away in a corner with life feeling a little stagnant, you can pick yourself up, dust yourself off and with a little effort, create movement again.
